I honestly can’t believe it’s 2012! Time has FLOWN. The older I get, it seems, the more time escapes me. Now, mind you, I’m in my early 20’s so some of you might roll your eyes when I say that, while others of you may raise a hand and testify that you feel me. With that being said, In all my years I haven’t kept a single New Years Resolution. I got to thinking about that a few weeks ago, and shook my head at myself. I haven’t kept a New Years Resolution for a full year, like, EVER. But then again, the resolutions I’ve made haven’t necessarily been the easiest to keep. I remember one year making the Resolution that I was going to start running to get into better shape. Two days later I decided running after the ice-cream truck didn’t count, and quickly changed it. SO this year, I haven’t made a New Years Resolution…. I’ve made THREE. BOOOOOO YAH. This way I have three chances to keep at least ONE.
The first resolution is kinda obvious, in fact, I’m doing it now. Ladies and Gentleman (or maybe I’m the only one reading this, well, me and my mom, cause i’m totally gonna make her):
1. I’M STARTING A BLOG!
I’m doing this for a GAGILLION reasons. Mainly though, I wanna keep track of my life. I love journaling. But I also love music, photography, baking, making new friends, Jesus, traveling, sharing, crafts, laughing, and being a special opps ninja for the CIA. Therefore, I want to keep all of my interests together. I want this blog to be my journal, my journal in which I can instantly add pictures too, share Christ’s love on, and tell you a baking secret or two (if you learn tae kwon do while you’re here, then that’s just an extra perk).
2. I’M GONNA MAKE JESUS FAMOUS
I’m in love with Jesus Christ. He is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me. I’m a Christian. Hopefully that makes you wanna give me a cyber high five, if not though, i’m SO glad you’re here. Christianity isn’t a religion, it’s a relationship. And with every relationship, this one take time, energy, love, and investment. I want to get more invested in my Savior. I’ve been convicted recently of something that Jesus preached on, during His sermon on the mount: the beatitudes. If you get a chance, read Matthew 5. It’s goooooood stuff. If you don’t get a chance, I’ll quote my inspiration here:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5: 3-12 (NIV)
We all fall into one of these verses. I want to be pure in heart, be a peacemaker, be persecuted because of righteousness and so much more!
3. I wanna focus my creative energy on SOMETHING.
This last resolution is so general, so vague, so EASY. I don’t know what it looks like, but i know I need to work on it. See, I’m a musician (who most always falls right back into the GCEmD chord progression when writing new music). I’m photographer (who is learning to shoot in manual). I’m a baker (who STILL can’t find the perfect balance for her aunts sugar cookies). I’m a crafter (who spends more money buying things that would be cute to make into other things, but never actually gets around to doing it). I’m a traveler (who most always takes the scenic route and usually gets lost in the process). All of these things need tweaking, growth, inspiration. I wanna become a better ME.
You are more than invited to join me on this Journey. Here’s to the New Year!
[…] Happy Birthday to the blog! Exactly one year ago, yesterday, I started writing my ramblings on it’s pages. My heart, my adventures, my excitement & my passions have all been captured & written about here. If you’ve been following the blog for sometime, you may remember that last year, I didn’t make just one New Year’s Resolution. Instead, I made three in hopes that Id keep at least ONE. Well, ladies & gentlemen, **drum roll please** […]
