Cupcakes are magical. There, I said it.
I adore them. In High school I would bake them for any and every occasion.
Oh, it’s your best friend’s aunt’s neighbor’s dog’s birthday?! You obviously need a batch of cupcakes!
I love them so much that I’m snoody about it.
A good cupcake is so hard to find these days. A cupcake that’s 100% homemade and uniquely flavored to confectionary perfection and topped with sweet puffy dollops of icing is a rare and wonderful thing.
I may or may not have expressed my passionate feelings about the topic once or twice this summer. Luckily, Ryan pays attention to my dramatic culinary ramblings. In Charleston, Ryan decided he was going to surprise me on my birthday with a trip to a little cupcake shoppe he had discovered downtown.
You might as well say he had my heart right then and there. The cupcakes were simply divine.
And from there a tradition was started. Anywhere we go, we keep our eye out for cupcake shoppes. Ryan’s better at it than I am, he sees them miles away (either that, or he looks them up before we even leave to go anywhere).
We were making our way through Shortpump when it happened- I surprised him with a little visit to a cupcake shoppe. We made our way in, order a half-dozen and waited a whole 45 minute car ride before indulging in the best cupcakes we’ve had yet.
It was beautiful, really.
It’s the little things 🙂
