I’ve always dreamed of having my own bakery/cafe/coffee shop/music lounge/missions funding/youth supporting MINISTRY. That’s just one of my 10,932,468,392 dreams. And I firmly believe that dreams are given to us for a reason.
I’ve been reading The Circle Maker By Mark Batterson, and let me tell you: it’s incredible. My spirit jumps up and down with every turning page ( I might have even squealed a “hallelujah!” here and there as well). Batterson wrote something that had me squealing & jumping all at the same time:
“When imagination is sacrificed on the alter of logic, God is robbed of the glory that rightfully belongs to Him.”
I reread that sentence more times than I can count. Each reading of it had so much depth so much insight. My spirit was so excited. See, I’m a dreamer. Actually, I’m the biggest/craziest/non realistic dreamer I know. I also have expectations that these dreams weren’t given to me to just sit in my head, they were given to me to bring to pass. But for the longest time, I haven’t known how.
Then, like a lightening bolt from the heavens above, or a slap across the head ( “shoulda had a V8” style), I got it.
Prayer.
Please stop laughing. For all of you simpletons out there, I can hear you. “DUH!” you’re saying. And I commend you for that. But hey, i’m just being real here.
I don’t know if you’ve ever been like me, but for the longest time I thought that God’s dreams for my life didn’t always include my dreams for my life. I had it in my head that once I became a Christian, Christ had a whole file folder of things that He and I were going to do together, that He had dreamed up.
And that’s true to some degree.
What I failed to understand was that God created us, therefore He engraved certain dreams onto our hearts. He did that so we would want to bring them to pass, in Him. He gives us big dreams to show that He can do big things if we just ask.
“If you keep praying, you’ll keep dreaming, and conversely, if you keep dreaming, you’ll keep praying. Dreaming is a form of praying and praying is a form of dreaming. The more you pray the bigger your dreams will become. And the bigger your dreams become the more you will have to pray. In that process of drawing ever-enlarging prayer circles, the sphere of God’s glory is expanded.” (The Circle Maker)
Hall-le-lu-jah.
The more we dream. The more we will want those dreams to come to pass, the more we pray. The more we pray, the bigger our dreams get because God reveals the potential to glorify Himself in our dreams.
dream.
pray.
repeat.
I wanna be a bigger dreamer, and I wanna see God’s glory shine through the miracles of my big dreams coming true only through Him.
xoxo
