Darrell and Kat Smith are two people you can’t help but love. They both have such servant’s hearts! Not only that, but they are good at everything. Baking, decorating, photography, painting, electrical work…. the list goes on and on! You can imagine my delight when they asked me to photograph the renewal of their vows- I knew theirs would be special.
And it most certainly was 🙂
Kat & Darrell have been married for twenty years. Through good times and bad they have persevered. They each prepared new vows that they read to each other, one of my favorite lines from Kat’s vows to Darrell was:
“Though we haven’t always travelled the same path, we have always been traveling in the same direction.”
Their guests were touched by the small, sweet ceremony. There was not one dry eye as they recommitted their lives to each other. It was so intimate, and so wonderful.
… and they sealed it all with a kiss 🙂
Through their twenty years together, Kat and Darrell have been blessed with two awesome kids 🙂 Deanna & Slater both helped tremendously in making the day a special one!
Kat crafted all of the fun decorations for her special day, Darrell baked the cake and their daughter Deanna iced it!
IT WAS SO GOOD!
Being able to photograph a vow renewal was such a gift. Weddings are my favorite, but there is something so incredible about capturing a couple’s recommittment to each other. In a society where commitment is taken lightly, it was really powerful to watch two people make a promise to each other to never give up.
Two people who have done life together, through both good times and bad, and choose to continue to do it forevermore.
