“Only Jesus could make death so beautiful” -Anna Filly
Fall is finally here.
My social media feeds have been filled with all things pumpkin and all things spice- and I absoltutely LOVE it. I’ve mentioned before that Fall is my most favorite season. So this year, I decided to bring it in with a bang! The night before the first day of Fall, a few friends and I stayed up late baking apple cinnamon scones, pumpkin spiced cookies with cream cheese frosting, sipping coffee and chatting the night away.
We woke up the next morning and each dawned a pair of boots- just because.
There was a light crispness in the air and as we made our way to church, my heart was full.
As the Church service began, I stood, eyes closed, thanking to Lord for the most simplest of things. Call me corny, but yes, I was thanking the Lord for Fall, and for creating me to love it as much as I do. When suddenly, in the midst of my worship, it occurred to me: only Jesus could make death so beautiful.
Fall is a time of death. Trees begin the process of shedding their leaves in order to prepare and save food for the cold, winter season. The temperature begins to drop and sunlight starts to shorten as Autumn begins. During this time, the leaves turn from green to yellow, orange, or red and begin to die, falling from the trees themselves.
Why do the leaves have to die?
So the tree can produce even better, more beautiful leaves the following Spring.
Immediately my mind transferred to Christ.
Why did he have to die?
So we might be gifted the opportunity of a growing relationship with him, personally.
Can you see it?
Death isn’t scary or morbid, when Christ is the center of our hope and focus….
It’s not scary, because it’s not eternal.
Just like leaves change and die in the Fall, they come back more brilliant the next Spring.
Oh, how I love this season… praying that you see just how much your Creator loves you, today <3
Happy Fall!
