My parents didn’t grow up with many Family Traditions, so they decided they would start some with my sister and I. One of my most favorite traditions happens every fall, when the leaves start to turn and the air starts to crisp. We make an hour long trek to Charlottesville, Virginia. We drive up an infamous windy road that leads to the top of Carter Mountain.
An apple orchard sits on the top, along with hayrides, pumpkins, and beautiful views as far as the eye can see. Apple cider donuts, hot apple cider and apple anything else you could think of wait to be consumed by young and old alike. It’s perfection.
We came home and got cozy just as the temperature dropped and it started to rain. We invited a few of our friends over for dinner, and I couldn’t help but make Apple Cobbler for dessert. I had never tried this recipe before, but instantly fell in love with it. Paired with creamy vanilla ice cream, it was an instant favorite! The perfect dessert on a cold fall day.
Combine remaining cinnamon, flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples. Pour melted butter over topping. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until lightly browned and apples are tender.
Serve warm with ice cream, eat it with friends & family and enjoyyyyyy!
