I’ve always wanted to do everything under the sun. Where some people would find their consistency and security in having the same career for most of their life, that was something that made me feel like a caged bird. The idea of having one career my whole life was never something that I wanted for myself. There is just SO much to do in life!
Own a bakery/restaurant? Dreams and goals!
Write blogs and books and more? Yep.
Sing & write music? That would be incredible.
Travel? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Be a stay at home mom for a little? I’d LOVE that.
Teach? OH YES.
Speak? Why not?!
Own a photography business? PLEASE?
Through the changes of life, and the ever wandering desires of my heart, one thing has always stayed the same. I always come home. For over 20 years I lived on the ever beautiful countryside in rural Virginia. Then, I moved to Mobile, Alabama. But my heart doesn’t rest in a location. For me, home is so much more than that. Home is the three people I feel most alive with- the ones who have walked the most life with me. Home is the place where the four of us come together and let all guards down.
Home is the place where momma sings a variety of songs to the same tune.
Home is how daddy always pulls one of his three girls into the kitchen at various times and dances with them, just to get a giggle.
Home is where my little sister sleeps in sweatshirts, calls me nanna, and shares her heartstrings while I bake something sweet for us.
Home is when a murder mystery TV show comes on and the four Filliben’s sit up a little straighter in unspoken excitement– we just love to figure things out.
Home is the place where mom makes elaborate meals, but always manages to burn frozen pizza.
Home is where heartfelt, intentional conversations happen daily.
But most importantly … Home is wherever I’m with them.
Because I own a small business, I was able to travel home and photograph a Wedding this past weekend. I have never been more grateful for the gift of what I do, than now. Photographing a gorgeous wedding in Virginia AND spending a few days with my family made for the most perfect trip. Our family was able to travel to the rolling mountains in Charlottesville to go apple picking, and we also got to take our yearly christmas card photo– which turned into a mini photoshoot 😀 .
I just love this bunch.
Home is wherever I’m with them.
Happy Monday !!!
