Featured Favorite : Red Lipstick

I’m trying something *NEW* and I’m super excited to share it with you!  Each and every Friday I want to feature some of my most favorite things.  Products, places, people– the list is endless!

This Friday I’m sharing one of my BIGGEST and most used secrets: My Red Lip!  I absolutely LOVE the pop of colored confidence red lipstick gives.  But more so than that, I love a red lip that lasts.  I used to get so embarrassed when I would meet with a client for lunch.  I’d watch as my lipstick faded onto my napkin, my fork and on the rim of my glass.  Now, I don’t have to wonder or worry about that at all.  That’s right- it lasts through lunch!  After a meal, I do a quick touch up, and that’s all!  This red lip lasts throughout the day and the BEAUTY of it is that the process works for almost any lipstick brand.

Here’s how :

You’ll need a clean lip.  Nothing on them, completely dry.

Your secret weapon?  Lip liner.  I use Revlon, but others work as well.  I’ve noticed that pencil liners (ones that can be sharpened) don’t last as long as screw bottoms.

With your liner, dot both your left peak and your right peak on your upper lip.  Then, place a smaller dot on the center between them, actually on your lip, right below your cupid’s bow (yes, that’s what it’s called ; ).

X marks the spot!  Create an “X” by connecting each dot on each peak, to the center dot.

Now, line your lips.  Go around the edges. Be patient and don’t rush.  You’re practically a pro!

Then, using your lip liner, color your lips in fully.  Make sure to get the edges and keep it smooth. This is what keeps it long lasting! 

Lastly, take your favorite red lipstick, and go over your lips with this final coat of color.  Using the rounded edge of your lipstick, round out the pointedness of your penciled peaks.

TA-DA!  You’re all done!
