One of the joys of photographing Weddings is knowing that the beauty of the day will overflow into the lives that my couples curate. Yes, Weddings are beautiful celebrations of two people coming together and joining as one. But marriages? Marriages are timeless, captivating, and absolutely breathtaking. A marriage is made to be fought for. Love, sacrifice, compromise, authenticity, honesty– these are the threads that weave themselves into the tapestries that tell the stories of how two people have committed themselves to each other.
And by golly it’s incredible.
The love that two people have for each other isn’t meant to be bottled up into one day. It’s meant to be grown, sewn and cultivated over a lifetime.
Josh + Kayla got married on a crisp autumn afternoon exactly one year ago this month. Butterflies and excitement fluttered and sparked as their friends and family gathered. It was by far one of my most favorite love stories to photograph. Why? Because I’ve been able to watch the promises that they made to each other on their wedding day ring true in their marriage. And I was just their wedding photographer.
When these two voiced their desire for an anniversary session, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Meeting at a coffee shop in Homewood, Alabama, they shared the journey that this last year has been. The ups, downs and in-betweens have all fluctuated and changed, but you know what hasn’t? They’re choice to choose each other.
And that’s what marriage is all about.
If you saw their Wedding day on the blog, trust me when I say that you’re going to fall in love with these two all over again 😉
