Sitting at the kitchen table, relaxing as I think about everything this weekend has held. I breathe a sign of excited relief as I realize nothing is due, no papers need to be written, and no tests need to be studied for.
I have graduated college.
Praise Jesus.
This weekend was special for so many reasons.
The weekend was also Mother’s day. I know I’m a little late on this, but bare with me mom- a 15 hour car ride prevented me from blogging yesterday 😉
I love you. I am so thankful for you. I look back, over the years and am so blessed by the way our relationship has grown. We’ve fought, adventured and laughed through the best of times and the worst of times. I’m thankful for the fights that ended in us sharing mini chocolate covered donuts dunked in whole milk. Those calories never counted by the way. I’m sure of it.
You have been my spiritual warrior- constantly praying for me even when I don’t ask you to. In the midst of our vast differences, you never cease to remind me how proud you are of who I’ve grown up to be. You’re beautiful. Inside, and out. You have such an innocent strength to you… and I’ve never met someone more stubborn. Unless of course that someone is me. You live life competitively- always knowing that the best should be achieved in most everything you set your mind to. I get my work ethic from you- and I’m grateful. You have always been willing to fight for me- even when you didn’t know who to fight. Boys who broke my heart were always intimidated by you. You were always so fierce and beautiful, and you still are even today.
You’re adventurous. My love for exploration is completely from you, Mom. No one understands how we have a deep rooted need to get away and explore things unknown. But we do. There is always something that needs to be explored and discovered- you taught me that. It’s in my DNA and I love living life with excited anticipation of what it to come.
Though you never understood the way I endlessly dreamed to do the impossible, you let me fantasize, and fully supported me when I jumped for those dreams. You read my blog even when no one else did- and encouraged me that spelling errors were normal for beginners, no matter how numerous.
You’re task oriented, and I’m people oriented. But together we make a great team. We are opposites, and always have been- probably always will be. You’ve taught me the art of loving what makes people different. And I’m thankful.
So, heres to you, Majah. Here’s to the woman who never gets enough praise. The lady who is madly in love with the Mountains, swiss cheese, and fishing in Colorado.
I love you.
