There comes a time when the work just piles up. I’m sure you’ve been there. You have a long list of “To Dos” and not enough time to DO all of them. That list can often leave you feeling defeated, stressed, and just plain exhausted. If it’s not one thing, it’s another, and once you complete one task, you realize three more found have themselves on your list, clawing for your attention.
I’m sure there are plenty of mothers out there who are “amening” as they read this.
See, I’m there…. and I don’t even have the excuse that I’m a mother.
But, instead of viewing this negatively, I’m encouraged that the good Lord allowed me to come to this place.
Often, he allows us to get overwhelmed, because we try to do life without his lead. And life without Christ leading always leads to places I don’t want to be.
I’ve been reminded a lot recently that as Christians, we aren’t meant to do life alone. It sometimes feels that we have to though, doesn’t it? We feel like we have to get certain things done on our own before we can include others. Or we feel we have to get our mess cleaned up before we can love on other people with messes.
Owning a photography business is a blessing- fully and totally- and it requires a lot of my attention. There are a million “To Do” lists, photos to be edited, and emails to be sent. For the longest time I felt like it was all up to me to “get things done”.
But it’s not. See, as I mentioned before, we aren’t meant to do life alone.
There are so many people out there who long to have someone teach them something- anything– about photography. I remember when I first started, all I wanted to do was second shoot for someone. I just wanted to walk alongside them and learn. See, I didn’t know ANYTHING, and I knew if I just did LIFE with another photographer, I would GROW and learn SOMETHING.
And since we aren’t meant to do life alone, I want to extend this opportunity to others. The beautiful thing about being an overwhelmed creative is that there are others out there- like I am- who long to learn anything about this business.
With all that being said, that someone may be you! So, I want to extend an invitation to you. If you love road trips, good conversation or pretty pictures, and if you just want to grow as a creative, learn the world of small business or get better as a photographer this opportunity is being extended to you.
