Before we got engaged, David & I talked a handful of times about our wedding date. When you’re dating it’s so hard to know whether it’s “OK” to talk about wedding dreams, or if it’s better to wait. I felt like David and I needed to wait to talk about wedding details until after we were engaged. I wanted to enjoy each season as it came, because I knew that each season would end before we knew it! One step at a time, right? The struggle was REAL though! I caught myself so many times day dreaming about our Wedding Date… When would it be? How long would we be engaged before we got married? What would the weather be like?
When David and I got engaged it all became so real. I looked at him one day and squealed “WE FINALLY CAN PLAN A REAL WEDDING!”. It might have been over the top- but my excitement surged! The conversation commenced ! We knew that before we could plan a single detail, we needed a DATE. But, when?! David and I talked through a variety of different options, but in the end, picking a wedding date wound down to THREE things!
- We wanted to get married in our FAVORITE season – I love Fall. Hot Lattes, the colorful leaves, the fresh crisp air, wearing layers, cozying up by the fire– it’s my absolute favorite! Luckily, Fall is David’s favorite too. Which made it so easy for us to decide that Fall would be the perfect time to get married!
- We wanted GOOD weather- David and I knew we wanted to get married in good ole Mobile, Alabama! Since I’m originally from Virginia, and David is from Eufaula, Alabama (The CUTEST small town! Sweet home Alabama was actually filmed there!), we decided it best to get married in the city that stole our hearts, and where we now call home! The onnnnnnnnly thing was that Mobile’s weather is kind of crazy. One minute it can be hot and sunny, the next minute a storm is rolling in and it’s raining cats and dogs! Mobile is actually the RAINIEST city in the USA. It actually gets more precipitation that Seattle. It’s like the tropics down here! Which makes sense because it’s on the edge of the gulf 😉 . The only downfall to tropical weather is when you’re not on a beach, and David and I didn’t want a beach wedding, so we had to be intentional when we picked our wedding date! David and I knew we wanted to pick a wedding date with the weather in mind. October is the month when Mobile gets the LEAST amount of rainfall AND the average temp is around 69*– great combination, right?! We sure thought so!!!
- We wanted a date that meant something to us – I love it when things have meaning behind them. David and I have talked about this a lot. We both agreed that we wanted our wedding date to have purpose. Our wedding day will be one of the most intentional days of our lives, shouldn’t our wedding date be intentional as well? On October 22nd, 2015 David asked me to be his girlfriend and on October 22nd, 2017 I will wake up David’s WIFE! No matter how corny it may sound, we are SO excited !!!! David and I will be getting married on October 21st, 2017 !!!!! AND WE CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!
