It all started when I rebranded. In the midst of changing hosting locations, blogs, and website urls (things I can’t even pretend to understand) I lost my list of subscribers to my original blog.
Yep.
It happened.
And I almost cried when my mom told me.
“Anna, honey, why haven’t you been blogging lately?”
“Mom, I blog every Monday and Thursday….You get the posts to your email, right?”
“Anna, I haven’t gotten one since December….”
Hundreds of people whom got my blog posts + updates directly to their email were gone in an instant and I had no way of letting them know what happened!
I plugged into social media in an attempt to get the word out… but then the struggle began.
Don’t get me wrong- social media is pretty amazing.
In an instant we can share photos, locations, videos and events with others all across the globe. As a business owner, social media is what allows me to connect to my clients and to my friends, family, and following across the world. I LOVE that! Especially since on most social media platforms, their services are free to use. That’s free advertising!
Talk about a huge blessing!
Over the years, as technology has developed, it has also changed. For example, on Facebook, unless you check in with certain businesses, artists and shops regularly, their posts won’t be in your newsfeed. Why? Because Facebook thinks your uninterested in the things you don’t click on and uninterested in the things that others don’t immediately “Like” or “comment” on.
Seems simple enough, right?
For sometime now, many artists have become flustered by these new changes and how they take away from their businesses. It’s true- the new changes are frustrating. But, it’s also true that Facebook is also a free source of advertising! Free being the key word!
There are SO many social media avenues online and sometimes technology can get overwhelming. Sometimes I click on that little red notification button, only to completely forget to read or look at what I clicked on in the first place!
But you know what I’ve realized? Letters and email- I always check and/or respond to those! Instead of relying strictly on the free advertising from other online venues I decided compile a list of my own subscribers. This way, you can get “the latest” straight to YOU. You don’t have to search for them, or seek them out. They’ll be right there, in your inbox, waiting for you !
And you don’t need to worry about ever subscribing to the blog again, trust me– we’ve worked out all of the kinks 😉
Simply sign up below!
If you’re not subscribed to “The Letter”, I’d loveeeee to encourage you too. This month we’re announcing some SUPER awesome stuff AND there will be a giveaway!
