It started with a high five.
Five little fingers on a fifth grade boy’s hand made their way down a line of students. Ten year old TJ was giving out high fives to anyone who wanted one– and Stephanie wanted one. That high five turned into a small crush, which proceeded into a conversation, and inevitably brought them to where they are today: absolutely smitten with each other.
Sweet memories like that were recalled as Stephanie, Tj & I adventured into the countryside. They laughed as they told me their first memory together and share more favorites. In the process of sharing memories, we also made a few. If you’ve been following the blog for awhile you know I love adventure and I’m really optimistic. Stephanie & Tj were posing and looking absolutely stunning when we all heard three LOUD gun shots. Now, we were in the country, so we laughed nervously and shrugged it off. But then it happened again…. and again. Both my adventurous nature and optimism kicked in full force. The landscape was beautiful, and the light was perfect. I wasn’t about to let a few bullets stop me from capturing the beauty!
“It’s okay guys, I haven’t been shot during a photo shoot….yet.”
Needless to say, the gun shots didn’t stop the whole session! These guys were troopers though and I had a blast with them!
Between gun shots & camera shots I loved getting to know the people behind the camera. It is just as much fun for me as photographing them.
In both ways you capture a part of who they are. It’s so fun for me to learn little details that make them unique. Of course, you can find things out by asking & telling, but it’s when words aren’t spoken that the details of who they are really come to life.
A few times a breeze would catch the waves of Stephanie’s hair and Tj’s eyes would just light up.
Stephanie’s nose crinkles when she laughs and Tj on more than one occassion Tj loved to do goofy things to makes her laugh.
Those moments are the ones that make for great pictures.
Call me a hopeless romantic, but these little details melt my heart.
It’s the simple things 🙂
