About a month ago, I sat in a room with young creatives. The space was filled with photographers, videographers, and graphic design artists. I had just taught a class on “How to Create A Better Client Experience” and we were finishing up with a question and answer segment. Towards the end, our conversation swayed to the importance of having an updated website.
“Think about it– it’s the first piece of you and your work that your client will see. If it isn’t updated, or you have photographs from when you first started, that isn’t an authentic reflection of YOU. As creatives we’re constantly growing and improving, so make sure your website shows that.”
I said the words with an excited smile. I was thrilled to be able to help those young business owners think outside the box!
“Can we see your website, Anna?”
My smile slowly faded as we pulled up my site and crammed around the computer screen. Everything that I had encouraged the girls to do- have updated photographs, take out old ones, have an efficient layout – was NOT reflected in my website.
My face turned red and I laughed, totally embarrassed. It was so good for me AND for the girls to see that no business owner “has it all together”. It was a good teaching experience, and one that I learned so much from!
When clients see your site for the first time, they’re seeing YOU for the first time. Unless they know you personally, this is the first opportunity you have to “shake their hand and introduce yourself”! First impressions are so important, especially in the Wedding Photography industry. Brides are scouring the internet looking for ONE photographer that stands out to them while remaining in their budget. They just need ONE, and an updated website could be the key between a bride inquiring for your services, or clicking on to another photographer’s page!
I am SO happy to say that I’ve updated my site with a brand new layout, design, and updated photographs! Praise the Lord for that! Check it out, and click HERE to explore it for yourself!
Two of my FAVORITE new additions to the site are my “Planning to Propose?” page and my Faces of Anna Filly page! I wanted a place to showcase my clients and allow potential clients to read their stories– after all, they ARE the Faces of Anna Filly Photography!
The “Planning to Propose?” page is specifically for those sweet couples that want a photographer to capture their proposal! Ladies can leave the link for their man, and let them know if they want a photographer present, and guys have an easy way to contact me ! Everybody wins!
Have some fun and click around— and sign the Guest Book to let me know what you think!
Happy Thursday!
