I have a secret fondness of color coordination.
Last fall, as soon as I made the decision to go to school in Mobile (aka listened to Christ), one of the first things I did was plan how my dorm would look. I’m not ashamed to admit I got giddy over picking out duvet cover designs, rustic gold frames and sea foam green details.
See, this is my FIRST dorm room…EVER. So, my creative juices got excited and went to work!
I wanted something relaxing, elegant and classy and fell in LOVE with the color palate I blogged about a few months back. Sea foam green, rustic gold and ivory just looked so good together. Like it was true love or something.
Me being me, I wanted to make my dorm as frugal and inexpensive (CHEAP) as possible. So EVERYTHING is crafted in some way, shape or form. I’m proud as a peacock to say I made the duvet cover and all the pillows.
The picture frames are yard sale finds- the lamps are from goodwill. I think my most expensive purchase was a can of sea foam green spray paint. I used it to cover this adorable lamp, a picture frame, and the canvas behind my bed.
The curtains? Yard sale. The bulletin boards? made ’em with Walmart fabric & an old cork board.
The owl and candle on my night stand were Christmas gifts from Ry. He got crafty and hot glued the gold ribbon around the candle. Yep, I’m here to affirm craftiness IS attractive. The other little odds and ends were clearance items at different whole-in-the-wall places.
When I finally did the math, I think I didn’t spend more than $150.
Ha-le-lu-jah!
xoxo
