Previously I mentioned a few things that needed further explanation, and I can’t wait to share 🙂 .
Mom & I have conquered a 14 hour drive: Literally, talk about cray. But it wasn’t as bad as we had anticipated. Just a lot of sitting, and steering, and more sitting.
I have killed my first deer: All the rednecks out there just got interested. But no, country friends, it was not with a 12 gage. Instead, I used my mom’s car. This picture doesn’t even do justice to the sick feeling in my stomach I got when I first saw the damage. Don’t worry, we’re okay, the deer on the other hand… isn’t. The episode has already been an amazing spiritual learning experience, expect more ramblings about it later.
I saw Steve Moakler LIVE: AND I met him, AND I embarrassed the mess out of myself. I should seriously write a book on what NOT to say to people who inspire you.
The University of Mobile does an event called “The Listening Room” every fall. It’s where cheesecake & coffee are served while singers & songwriters perform for all to hear. It’s amazing. Halfway through the second act (Matt Scott was performing, ahhh so good!) My friend Ryan went to get coffee and then came back and told me to follow him. We walked to the back of the room, and there he was. Steve Moakler was leaning against the back wall, a latte in hand and his attention fixed on the performers on stage. I died. Ryan encouraged me to go over and talk to him, but it took me 10 minutes to do so. I finally worked up the nerve and walked up beside him.
“You’re Steve Moakler,” I told him (as if he didn’t know), “And I don’t mean to sound like a creepy girl fan, but I’m a creepy girl fan.”
Yes, I really said that. We proceeded to make small talk, he was smooth, calm, humble, kind… and me? I was even more awkward.
My mom fell in love with my school: Her exact words? “You’re called here boo, this school is exactly where you belong.”
It’s been an amazing four days.
Praise you, Jesus.
