Today is a road trip day. These days seem to be more frequent lately and I love it! A four-hour car ride and my favorite playlist of songs await me. After a long week of student teaching, it’s nice to slip away for a weekend. Though this is a business trip- I am once again reminded that I not only love what I do, but I am blessed to do it.
I’m also really thankful that my car gets great gas mileage.
In the midst of all of my thinking, I’ve laughed so much at myself. If you didn’t know, this semester I am working full time with the photography business AND student teaching. It’s been a whirlwind, but I have to say I’ve enjoyed this season immensely thus far. With that being said, I’ve learned a lot and I figured it would be wise to share some of what I’ve learned from the 8th Grade perspective 🙂
5 Tips to Surviving 8th Grade:
1. When greeting a class of 8th graders with “First things first” you should expect over half of them to echo: “I’m the realest”….. You would think I’d learn that after the first three times.
2. In 8th grade its all about who you Snap Chat these days. That’s how you know if you really care for someone. That’s how relationships are built….. I deleted snap chat… so…. there’s that…
3. “Not all who wander or lost, Ms. Filliben” is not an ample excuse for wandering middle school hallways.
4. If you’re a middle school girl, wearing a headband across your forehead is a fashion trend you want to jump on board with
5. There’s always that one kid that can’t sit still in class. Telling him he has 10 seconds to dance it out is totally acceptable if it means he’ll stay in his seat the remainder of the class.
Happy Friday!
