I started Student Teaching yesterday. This new little adventure has so much in store. But every adventure does now, doesn’t it? That’s why they call it an adventure.
People often ask how a girl like me ended up moving from Richmond, Virginia, to do life in Mobile, Alabama. Each time the question arises, I smile to myself. Lord knows that Jesus has a sense of humor. Every time someone questions “Why Mobile?” I promise you, Jesus and I have a little moment where He smiles, I smile, and all at once a million things are spoken between us without a single word being said.
Jesus is good like that.
See, if he would have told me that after moving to Mobile I would be spurred to start a photography business, or that I would fall in love and have my heart broken, or that I would learn the value of the in-between moments… (You know the ones. Those precious moments in-between the mile markers in life that we think are important…) or that I would learn that patience isn’t simply waiting, it’s waiting with a good attitude. If I had known all of that, I’m not quite sure that I would have jumped on board.
But he knows me. He knows me so well that in knowing me, his love for me doesn’t allow me to stay the same.
In order for that to happen, I have to not settle for where I am. Jesus doesn’t want me to be satisfied by things that can break my heart, or change. He’s so good that he only wants the best for me. He is what’s best for me.
The same goes for you, too, you know. You may be like me- a dramatic dreamer who honestly and truly believes that the best is yet to come… but you’re wondering why certain things are happening the way they are… and you’re frustrated. Don’t be discouraged, dear heart. Because, yes, although it is true that the best is yet to come, it is also true that the best is here, now.
And he doesn’t change.
