The Next Generation.
Does anyone think of Star Trek when I say that? maybe it’s just me.
The Next Generation, OH how I love their young hearts! My church’s youth Group- Cross Heirs- recently had supertastically awesome game night. We had free reign of our church and pumped the kids FULL of caffeine & sugar. It was SUPER fun.
I absolutely love what God does in young people. When Christ captivates their hearts, it’s like someones adding gasoline to a fire! Their passion is contagious, their drive, unstoppable. I’ve worked with a few different youth groups and no matter what, the effects of being a part of them are all the same. I leave changed. I leave having more questions that need answering, more verses that need memorizing, and my faith and love for Jesus deepens so intensely. Building relationships with these young adults is what touches my heart the most. Getting to know them, hearing their story and disciplining them. I have watched Christ melt the heart of a girl hardened by sexual abuse & insecurity. She now glows with grace & freedom in Jesus. I’ve watched my Savior deliver a boy addicted to pornography, show him that there is more to love than what’s physical and transform him into a man determined to not be defined by the world’s standards.
I tell you all of this, to say that Christ is doing something BIG in the youth of today. He’s changing them, molding them, making them warriors for His name. IT. IS. EXCITING. Join me in praying for them and praying for what’s ahead. My prayer is that their faith would grow deep and wide. Psalm 42:7 says “Deep cries out to deep…” Not “deep cries out to shallow” or “shallow cries out to deep”. THIS IS SO AWESOME. CHRIST CALLS OUT TO US with an equal depth and intensity that we cry out to Him. My prayer is that the youth of today would develop an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ and be unstoppable for His Kingdom.
