We drove through the small town of Eufaula and down windy roads to the house Jessica has lived in all of her life. The family greeted us as we made our way into their home. Both parents, two sisters and a brother were excited to be reunited under the same roof. I was instantly welcomed into the family by Smokey, the family dog. The evening was filled with lots of incredible food (Mrs. Jeanie can cooooooook) and great conversation.
Homesickness set in Sunday.
We all packed into our cars and headed to church, where Mr. Robbins pastored. Hand shakes, introductions, smiles… it was like I was the pastor’s kid in a different state with a different family and that made me miss mine more than ever. We had a big family lunch and spent the day relaxing… juuuuussssstttt like we do every Sunday back home.
Dear mom, dad & MJ, I miss you, come visit me.
Monday I explored Eufaula.
While Jess went to a hair appointment, I wandered through her hometown. Huge, beautiful history mansions dotted themselves along the streets. Thrift stores and antique stores were around every corner. The rustic, country feel never left me as the sun warmed my back. I love exploring, wandering sidewalks, and capturing details.
Today we’re leaving Eufaula.
Jess and I are road trippin’ it 7 hours southeast to another place I’ve never been before.
Let the good times roll!
(and all the Alabama lovers said… “roll tide!”)
Honey says
Glad you are enjoying your travels. We all love you! Mom:)
