Every few months I sit before my computer, gather my lists of goals and “to dos” and go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I look at my purchases, my income, the goals I have set, the dreams I have scribbled, the emails I’ve sent, the photos I’ve taken- I look over everything trying to see if I’ve made one thing: progress. In an industry that is ever growing and ever changing, progress is one of the most important things to make! But progress isn’t made by comparing yourself to others- nope.
In fact, comparison can be one of the biggest enemies of progress. Progress can only be measured by seeing where you were, noting where you are, and dreaming of where you wish to be.
You know what else can be an enemy of progress? Progress itself.
One main thing I HAVE to ask myself is: What am I doing? What am I progressing towards?
If I’m moving forward just to make a name for myself, or to simply take pretty photos- then what I’m making isn’t progress. It’s selfishness.
It’s exciting and humbling to think about!
Happy Monday!
